New Chamber Vacancy: Events Manager

The UK Chamber of Shipping is looking for an Events Manager for a fixed 1-year term from early April 2024.

UK Chamber of Shipping

The UK Chamber of Shipping is the trade association and voice for the UK shipping industry, with over 200 members from across the maritime sector.  We work with Government, Parliament, international organisations and others to champion and protect the UK shipping industry on behalf of our members.

The Chamber’s current Events Manager will be taking maternity leave in May. We are searching for a creative and well-organised Events Manager to take her place for 12 months and deliver the logistics and marketing of our events programme. This will include the Annual Dinner, attended by 800+ guests, and a new Conference in October 2024, Shipping UK, which aims to attract 350 delegates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead the implementation of the UK Chamber’s annual events programme to meet the needs of the Chamber as determined by the company strategy.
  • To take each Chamber event from concept to delivery – managing concept development, planning, marketing, registrations and stakeholder relations.
  • To develop processes and identify new technologies to maximise efficiency and impact.
  • Maximise the profitability of individual events by creating and tracking budgets for each event in agreement with the Head of M&BD.
  • To develop and maintain relations with key event partners to maximise commercial opportunities– suppliers, sponsors, partners and venues.
  • Create and maintain CRM database records of current and previous attendees, speakers, suppliers and sponsors for use in event planning and marketing.
  • Provide on-site management to ensure the correct delivery of events.
  • To monitor the success of events and report findings to the Head of Membership & Business Development
