This year, the UK Chamber of Shipping attended the Labour, Reform UK and Conservative Party conferences. Across the conferences, four themes stood out for shipping: the growing political focus on economic and national resilience; energy security and the cost of the transition; the need for faster infrastructure delivery; and renewed competition over how Britain supports investment, skills and trade.

Ensuring shipping remains resilient, competitive and internationally connected requires close engagement with governments and industry partners around the world. That was a key focus of the UK Chamber of Shipping's participation in a series of high-level meetings in Washington D.C., where UK Chamber Policy Director Katrina Ross joined an International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) delegation and representatives from 18 maritime nations for a series of meetings in the Capitol.

Shipping UK 2026 brought together 300 leaders from shipping, government, finance, defence, technology and the wider maritime ecosystem for a day of ambitious and practical discussion about the industry’s future.

The UK Chamber of Shipping has today launched a refreshed strategy and campaigning programme designed to strengthen the competitiveness of UK shipping, demonstrate its value to the nation and ensure the industry remains central to Britain's prosperity, resilience and economic growth.
