Why apply?Course Recognition is open to in-house or public courses delivered anywhere in the world. Through the scheme, we formally recognise training courses that are effective, quality assured and answer specific needs within the maritime industry.Achieving recognition aligns your course with the UK Chamber of Shipping’s well-respected brand allowing it to carry a globally recognised UK Chamber of Shipping ‘quality mark’ on all materials. This significantly enhances its profile and credibility in the marketplace whilst at the same time, giving access to a rigorous and highly detailed expert evaluation creating a very effective way of improving the quality of your training. The service is ISO9001 accredited. How it worksA thorough assessment determines whether the course is ready to undergo the full evaluation process. Should the application be rejected at this initial stage, we will provide a detailed report, explaining the reasons for our decision. Course operators are welcome to re-apply at a later date, once they are confident of having filled any gaps we’ve identified. The full evaluation process is subject to a separate fee, including agreed expenses for the site visit. The course will be assessed against a set of 16 key criteria. These help the assessor to determine: the course’s ability to meet industry and/or company needs; how well it is planned and delivered; and how it fits with nationally or internationally recognised standards. After onsite evaluation, assessment and internal verification, approved courses will be able to display the UK Chamber’s ‘quality mark’ on promotional materials and course stationery for an initial three-year period. How to applyFor information on the full evaluation process, details of the 16 Course Recognition criteria or an application form, please contact kathryn.neilson@mntb.org.ukWe would be happy to arrange a pre-application discussion – free of charge – to ensure the scheme meets your needs and that you are clear on all its requirements. On formal application, an initial registration fee of £250 (plus VAT where applicable) is payable.
