08 Mar 23 International Women's Day 2023 This year the Chamber wants to celebrate women around the globe by highlighting women's success stories and achievements. We put together a series of stories of women working in the maritime industry to showcase outstanding careers which break down barriers such as gender stereotypes and embrace equality. We want every woman to feel inspired by these stories and consider a career in maritime.A career in maritime can be extremely rewarding and doesn't necessarily need to be at sea, it can also be onshore, this is a career that has no gender, race and belief barriers, this is a career for everyone.Whatever role you choose, there are endless opportunities in the maritime industry and you can find out more about them on the Careers at sea website. 18 Oct 2025 UK Chamber Statement on IMO MEPC Outcome The UK Chamber of Shipping has responded to the conclusion of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Extraordinary Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), which ended without the adoption of the proposed Net Zero Framework.
