The UK Chamber of Shipping has given its reaction to the EU 'Fit for 55' proposals.Bob Sanguinetti, UK Chamber of Shipping Chief Executive said:"The global shipping industry is agreed that more needs to be done to cut emissions. However, the UK Chamber of Shipping believes international regulations are the best way to create real, lasting change across the sector."We have seen how regional measures can distort the market and we encourage our EU partners to work collaboratively with the industry taking these proposals to the IMO to accelerate the decarbonisation journey. The Chamber would prefer not to have different regulations in different jurisdictions and we must continue to do all we can to ensure governments, the IMO and industry are working closely together as we reduce emissions across the shipping sector, now and in the future."
