A new report by the Centre for Economic and Business Research (Cebr) has shown the value of the shipping industry to the UK economy. 

The research shows that the shipping industry provides:

- Over 60,000 jobs for UK employees 

- £6.6bn in gross value added 

- The Treasury with almost £1bn in tax revenues to fund public services

- Support for over 645,000 jobs across the country
