The Autumn Lunch is a great opportunity to take part in thought provoking discussions about the maritime and shipping industry and to network with people who will shape it’s future.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear from the Chamber’s President, the Senior Management Team and potentially some other guest speakers at a pre-lunch Q&A session, network over a few glasses of fizz and enjoy a delicious three-course meal overlooking the fantastic Southampton marina.

Rhett Hatcher, UK Chamber of Shipping CEO

Rhett Hatcher, UK Chamber of Shipping

CEO
Rhett joined the Chamber of Shipping as the CEO in March 2024, after leaving the Royal Navy and, most recently, the role of UK National Hydrographer, Deputy Chief Executive and Director for Defence and Data Acquisition at the UK Hydrographic Office.

During his time in the Navy, Rhett served as a bridge watchkeeper, attack helicopter pilot, warfare officer and Joint staff officer on operations all over the world. He held sea and air command appointments in HM Ships Penzance, Bulwark and Protector and 815 Naval Air Squadron, respectively. Rhett has worked extensively across government departments in Whitehall, developing policy options for political choice on issues regarding futures and strategic analysis, military capability, counter-terrorism, Joint operations and international security.

Peter leads the policy team to provide a coordinated and focused service across this key part of the chamber's offering to its membership.

Kathryn Neilson, MNTB

Director
Kathryn is responsible for the overall operation of the MNTB, overseeing and facilitating its technical work, new entrant training programmes, careers promotion strategy and managing the charitable work of the Maritime Educational Foundation.

Prior to joining the MNTB, Kathryn worked for Royal Caribbean International overseeing the Company’s cadet training programme as well as being responsible for the Safety and Compliance of the fleet. Her background is in teaching and training development. Kathryn joined the MNTB in August 2017.
Virginia McVea

Virginia McVea, Maritime & Coastguard Agency

CEO
Virginia was appointed CEO of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in April 2023. She is a solicitor specialising in European law, human rights, and private practice litigation. She has worked at the United Nations on a range of matters and was also a legal advisor to the Regulation and Quality Assurance body. Before moving to the MCA, she was the lead CEO for the Commonwealth Forum of Human Rights Commissions operations.
