Introduction by Francesco Sandrelli, Policy Director, Environment from the UK Chamber of Shipping.

Followed by:

  1. Dr. Mario Tamburri, Professor at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and Chair of the IMO GESAMP Working Group on Biofouling. Overview of Ship Biofouling and In-Water Cleaning, including specific efforts on performance testing of in-water cleaning systems.

Ship Biofouling and In-Water Cleaning - Introducing the new guidelines, the topics and discuss specifically IN-Water Cleaning.

2. Stylianos Papageorgiou, Managing Director of Lomarlabs and was previously the Technical Director for Lomar Shipping (A Non-UK Chamber Member) focusing on the owner and innovator side.

Part A discussing:

  • banning of Tributyltin (TBT) from paints and the renewed importance of biofouling management practices since
  • operational and technological best practices
  • obstacles to their implementation
  • possible solutions

Part B: Presenting a case study with AliciaBots (a manufacturer of Proactive cleaning Bots).

3. John Loaiza, Managing Director of Bio-marine services (A Non-UK Chamber Member) and he attends the IMO group on Biofouling Management for IMAERST. His firm provides worldwide services through 18 surveyors on Biofouling monitoring, cleaning and analysis with a focus on environment and energy efficiency.
