British Rig Owners' Association (BROA) is the trade association for companies operating mobile offshore units worldwide with UK interests. Some BROA members are also involved in providing maintenance, construction and accommodation services to the offshore renewables industry.BROA provides a forum to discuss regulatory issues and developments at UK, EU and international levels. We provide a forum which focuses primarily on technical and safety issues, and contribute to the collaborative approach of the UK’s offshore community, to improve safety for those working in the industry. BROA is directly represented on various regulatory forums at UK level, and benefits from the UK Chamber of Shipping's membership of ECSA at EU level and influence at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).Secretariat services are provided through the UK Chamber of Shipping. HistoryFormed in 1982, BROA was formed as a trade association to provide mobile rig owners operating from the UK with a forum to discuss common regulatory interests.BROA members also wished to facilitate industry co-operation with the UK Government, IMO, and what was then known as the European Community.The founding members of BROA were the mobile rig owners who had previously participated in what was then known as the "Offshore Section" of the Chamber of Shipping of the United Kingdom.
