18 Oct 25 UK Chamber Statement on IMO MEPC Outcome The UK Chamber of Shipping has responded to the conclusion of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Extraordinary Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), which ended without the adoption of the proposed Net Zero Framework. Instead, the IMO has agreed to postpone further discussions for 12 months. It is disappointing that an agreement could not be reached to adopt the Net Zero Framework at the IMO.As a long-standing advocate of a global carbon pricing mechanism, the UK Chamber of Shipping has consistently championed international collaboration to drive meaningful decarbonisation across the maritime sector.We trust that the international community, under the leadership of the IMO, will work towards a new way ahead, and the UK Chamber stands ready to engage in this process with all our global partners.
