16 Aug 24 UK Chamber of Shipping and International Marine Purchasing Association join together to seek a more sustainable future The UK Chamber of Shipping and International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) are delighted to announce a new partnership that seeks to increase collaboration on sustainability. While shipping is essential to maintaining UK and wider global prosperity ensuring that the industry is minimising its impact on the environment is crucial. This new partnership will aim to bring people from across the industry together to share ideas and initiatives that can increase the sustainability of shipping. The first steps of this new partnership are two meetings in September as part of IMPA London. The first will focus on the creation of an action plan for future joint workstreams, while the second is being held in partnership with the British Tugowners Association and will examine the issue of rope recycling. 18 Oct 2025 UK Chamber Statement on IMO MEPC Outcome The UK Chamber of Shipping has responded to the conclusion of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Extraordinary Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), which ended without the adoption of the proposed Net Zero Framework.
