07 Dec 22 The Chamber meets Baroness Vere Yesterday Chamber’s President Graham Westgarth, CEO Sarah Treseder and Communications Director Tom Bartošák-Harlow met the new Maritime Minister, Baroness Vere. This meeting was a chance to welcome the new Minister and set out the Chamber’s view on priorities and key issues for the UK shipping industry. Topics discussed centred around the need for pragmatic decarbonisation strategies and their timely implementation, both nationally and internationally to achieve 2050 net-zero targets. The conversation also focussed on the importance of investment in skills and infrastructure in making sure our sector is equipped with everything it needs to stay competitive. The UK Chamber of Shipping Chief Executive Sarah Treseder summarised the scope of the meeting by saying: “ We are delighted to have met with Baroness Vere to discuss some of the priorities for UK shipping which are of paramount importance for ensuring the industry is geared up for the opportunities and challenges ahead. “We will maintain a close and open dialogue with the Maritime Minister and her team and look forward to welcoming her to Southampton early next year for an industry orientation visit. “By working together we can ensure we have robust policies in place to ensure the UK remains an attractive and competitive market for Shipping” Share:
