22 Sep 26 Championing Shipping's Priorities Ahead of the Budget The UK Chamber of Shipping has worked with the CBI on its new Room to Grow report, helping ensure the challenges and priorities facing shipping are reflected in a major business competitiveness campaign, targeted into Government ahead of the Budget. Alongside the main report, the Chamber partnered with the CBI to produce a dedicated shipping deep dive, highlighting both the industry's economic contribution and the pressures facing operators. The analysis shows shipping facilitates more than £1 trillion of trade while facing rising energy and labour costs, increasing regulatory requirements and the significant investment needed to deliver decarbonisation. The report reinforces many of the issues the Chamber is raising directly with government, including energy costs, workforce challenges, investment conditions and the importance of maintaining the UK's attractiveness as a maritime nation. Our involvement in this work helps ensure shipping's voice is heard within wider business discussions on growth and competitiveness. It also strengthens the evidence base behind the Chamber's engagement with ministers and officials ahead of key fiscal decisions, and supports our own Submission to Treasury ahead of the Budget next month.By securing a dedicated focus on shipping within Room to Grow, the Chamber is demonstrating the sector's contribution to growth, trade, energy security and national resilience, while making the case for policies that support investment and competitiveness of UK Shipping.Download the shipping deep dive to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.Download the Deep DiveYou can also read the CBI's wider Room to Grow report here: Room to Grow: CBI report on business costs Share:
