23 Nov 22 Chamber of Shipping presses case with MPs On 22 November the UK Chamber of Shipping Chief Executive Sarah Treseder and Director of Communications Tom Bartošák-Harlow attended a Maritime UK MP briefing session alongside colleagues from across the maritime sector. The briefing provided the Chamber with an opportunity to speak directly to decision makers about the importance of the shipping industry to UK prosperity. Sarah and Tom also spoke to MP's about the importance of ensuring we have strong international targets and strategies for decarbonisation combined with policies here in the UK that enable action to be taken. A wide range of MPs attended including shipping and transport representatives from the Labour and Scottish National Parties and former maritime minister Robert Courts who kindly hosted the event. Commenting on the event Tom said:"The event was a chance for the Chamber to speak directly to MPs from across the political spectrum about both the issues impacting the wider UK shipping community and geographical issues such as the Port of Dover." "The range of MPs who attended the event was great to see, including some without obvious maritime interests. Those attending were left in no doubt about the need for strong action both at the IMO and by the UK Government to ensure shipping can play its part in achieving our decarbonisation goals."
