MNTB Director to lead discussions on tackling gender diversity at European Shipping Week

Kathryn Neilson, Director of the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB), will be moderating two sessions at the European Shipping Week next week in Brussels.

The two panel discussions will focus on gender diversity in the maritime industry and will hear from high profile politicians, including UK Maritime Minister Nusrat Ghani, and industry leaders like Fran Collins, Chief Executive Officer of Red Funnel Ferries.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Kathryn Neilson said:

“It is vital we all do more to tackle gender diversity in the shipping industry and I am incredibly proud to be moderating these sessions as part of European Shipping Week. These two sessions will see a range of impressive speakers coming together to discuss how we can recruit more women into our industry and how we can retain those women already working in the sector. I hope all of those who attend will take away real actions they can implement to ensure we are increasing the pool of talent needed for the future success of the shipping industry.”

The panel session will take place on day two of European Shipping Week. The week will feature an array of events with high-profile keynote speakers from the world of shipping and the European institutions.

European Shipping Week is a platform where EU policy-makers can meet and engage with European shipowners and other stakeholders from the maritime sector. The focus is on shipping, in all its different aspects, including the participation of sectors linked to the shipping industry.
