Honours for the shipping industry – Birthday 2018

OBE Honour Medal

We have again been approached by the Department for Transport to put forward nominations for the 2018 Birthday Honours List on behalf of the UK shipping industry.

If you think you know someone who through their actions has made a significant difference either within the industry or from their involvement with a charity or voluntary organisation, please let us know. In the first instance, email Terry Cooper and request the citation form.

Any such nomination must be kept completely confidential.

Nominations and re-nominations should be made on the citation form and returned via e-mail to Terry Cooper by Monday 21 August 2017.  Nomination forms and guidance can be accessed via the following links:

General guidance:

• Nomination forms should be completed in concise narrative style.

• Any voluntary or charitable work should be highlighted.

• Honours should be awarded while the individual is still in the post, or involved in the activities, for which they have been recommended.

• Lower-level awards are more likely to be successful.

Timing is important.  Your candidate must still be doing what they have been nominated for six months before the Honours list is announced.

For the Birthday list they must still be in their role or carrying out the activity they are being nominated for in the December before the Honours List is announced.

For the New Year list they must still be in their role or carrying out the activity they are being nominated for in the June before the Honours List is announced.

If you are having difficulty completing the form we will be happy to do that for you if you can provide all the necessary information.
