The Bulletin

From the CEO

It’s just over two weeks to our Annual Dinner and we were delighted to confirm on Monday that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will be our guest of honour. Her Royal Highness is a wonderful supporter of shipping and maritime causes and it’s a great honour to have her with us as we celebrate the centenary of our Royal Charter.

We were also able to confirm that both the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps MP and the Shipping Minister Nusrat Ghani MP will be joining us too. As part of our announcement this week we were also pleased to confirm V.Group as a further sponsor to the event. Thanks to them, and the rest of our sponsors for supporting what will be a great evening. If you’re still to get your ticket, please contact Donna Stevens.

Ensuring seafarers here in the UK and abroad are equipped with the right skills and training has long been a priority for us and the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB). This week it was announced that the MNTB has awarded the Bangladesh Marine Academy Centre Recognition for achieving a gold standard for seafarer training at their Training Centre in Chittagong. Well done to all involved!

Next Wednesday we will be hosting our second major event of the year with 100 guests expected for our conference on roll on roll off vehicle deck safety. We have talked a lot about safety in the last few months with the launch of our safety culture charter. It is hugely important that we continue to discuss and learn from best practice so we can continually improve safety onboard vessels. There are still a few tickets remaining so please head to our website, book your ticket and come along.

Have a great weekend.

Bob
