Annual Dinner raises almost £6000 for maritime charities

The UK Chamber of Shipping can announce that it has raised £5,576.82 for the two leading maritime charities.

The figure was raised at the Chamber’s recent Annual Dinner at the Park Lane Hilton in London, which was attended by 800 guests from across the international shipping industry.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust, which gives people facing a wide range of difficulties in their personal lives the opportunity to learn how to sail, received £2700.  Meanwhile Mariners Park, which provides a comfortable home for retired seafarers, received £2800.  Both were chosen by the Chamber President Sir Michael Bibby.

UK Chamber CEO Bob Sanguinetti said:

“We are delighted to have raised such a significant amount for such worthwhile causes. The generosity of the guests at our Annual Dinner will make a profound difference to the lives of people across the country.  We will continue to work closely with maritime charities and encourage them to liaise closely with us for future events.”
