British Tugowners Association | AGM, Conference & Dinner
The British Tugowners Association will hold their Annual General Meeting and Conference at the Bank House Hotel, Worcester WR6 5JD on Wednesday 18 April 2018.
The Annual Dinner will be held in the evening and annual golf competition, for the Sir William Crosthwaite Cup, will take place the following morning.
The conference, kindly sponsored by EMD Engines, a Caterpillar company will showcase the world's first remote-controlled commercial vessel, the Svitzer Hermod, in a joint initiative between Svitzer, Rolls Royce and Lloyd's Register exploring the potential of autonomy.
The programme also includes technology pioneers Kongsberg Maritime on their perception of the future of connected shipping, while law firm HFW examines the legal implications of increased adoption of autonomous systems within ports and the maritime industry.
Conference Sponsors, EMD Engines, will be showcasing their newest engine and their experiences bringing it to the European market.
The conference attracts industry leaders from the towage industry along with regulators and professional services firms and suppliers. It provides an ideal time for delegates to meet, update, exchange ideas and network so early registration is encouraged.
As well as members of the BTA, members of UK Chamber of Shipping, in particular those who attend the Harbour Towage Panel, are welcome and encouraged to attend the conference and dinner, and join in the golf if they wish. Non-members are also welcome, with spaces available at a non-member rate.
The AGM (for current BTA members only) will be held in the morning and be followed by lunch. The conference is scheduled to start at approximately 1300 and will be followed by a drinks reception and the Association's Annual Dinner in the evening.
For further information, specific queries or membership opportunities of the BTA, please contact Robert Merrylees, BTA Secretary.
Should you wish to stay at the Bank House Hotel the night before (17 April), please contact the BTA Secretary, who can facilitate arrangements.
