Job Retention Scheme - Applications now open

Members may be aware that since Monday 20th April applications can be made for the Job Retention Scheme and will typically take 6 working days till payments are made from the date of application;

  • Users will need the Government Gateway user ID and password you got when you registered for PAYE online.
  • For companies that furlough more than 100 employees a list of employee-specific covering all furloughed employees will need to be submitted
  • The cut-off date for furloughing employees is now 19 March (previously 28 February) – all employees who were registered on PAYE by 19 March can be furloughed (even if they were made redundant since then and then rehired)

For further information please visit the Government website.

The Chamber is continuing to explore with DfT and HMRC the possibilities of extending the coverage of the JRS such that more seafarers will qualify for furloughing. Any questions may be directed to Tim Springett.
